Itinerary

Day 1

Home - Hamilton

Home (Sunday 15th November)

Today we depart the Racecourse at 8:30am and make our way up to Hamilton with a delicious lunch stop at The Fat Kiwi Cafe in Otorahonga.

Hamilton

Once we reach Waitomo, we will visit the Waitomo Caves which is considered one of New Zealand’s best natural attractions. Take a boat ride through the glow worm grotto, marvel at thousands of magical glow worms and become part of over 130 years of cultural and natural history.

After taking in the stunning sights of these natural beauties, we will carry on our journey through to our accommodation where we will have a delightful dinner ready and waiting for us.

Accommodation: Novotel Tainui Hamilton

Day 2

Hamilton

Hamilton (Monday 16th November)

Today we will start the day off with visiting the Zealong Tea Room where we will be treated to a personalised experience that will reveal what it takes to grow and craft premium, certified organic tea in the Waikato.

Our journey begins with a traditional tea ceremony and a tasting of Zealongs internationally award-winning teas. Our guide will then lead us through the sculpture walk to the tea gardens (this walk is not extensive) sharing the passion and dedication behind each cup.

We will then perfect our visit with a scrumptious High Tea in Zealongs tea room. Featuring seasonal sweet and savoury delights, paired perfectly with their teas, this indulgence completes the journey from leaf to cup.

We will then make our way over to Hamilton Gardens where you can wander around in your own time. This is a must see attraction all year around. Offering 45ha of gardens and parklands to explore. Uncover the delights of 18 beautiful and inspiring enclosed gardens, each with stories spanning 4,000 years. Each a journey through time, culture and imagination.

Accommodation: Novotel Tainui Hamilton

Day 3

Matamata - Cambridge

Hamilton (Tuesday 17th November)

Today we get to experience the real middle -earth at the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour and buffet lunch. Here you will fall in love with the Alexander family sheep farm, just as Sir Peter Jackson did, as you journey on a short bus ride through the unequivocal beauty of the land, with the mighty Kaimai ranges towering in the distance. Your guide will then escort you on a shared walking tour (we have carts for those who will need assistance) around the movie set, showing the intricate details, pointing out the most famous locations and explaining how movie magic was made here.

Following our tour, we will make our way to the Party Marquee, where will be seated at a banquet table and we can enjoy a famously delicious buffet lunch.

This afternoon, we will make a quick visit to Cambridge, where we will check out the Grassroots Trust Velodrome and have some time to have a look around the township before heading back to our accommodation for the evening.

Accommodation: Novotel Tainui Hamilton

Day 4

Hamilton - Home

Hamilton (Wednesday 18th November)

This morning, after enjoying another lovely breakfast we will pack up our luggage and board the coach, ready for our journey home.  On the way home we will stop at the 487 Estate cafe in New Plymouth for a delicious lunch. Following our stop here we will carry on our way home where we should be home by 5pm.

Frequently asked questions

Can you collect me from my door?

Yes, it would be our pleasure. We can arrange for you to be picked up and returned to your front door at the conclusion of any tour.

I have some dietary requirements?

Please just let us know in advance and we will sort everything for you. Chefs are used to all sorts now when it comes to diet so as long as we know - we’ll have you covered.

How active are your tours?

We are called Take it Easy for a reason as we like to do just that. Do as much or as little as you like - after all it's your holiday! However, there is walking and various activities on each tour that require various levels of fitness. Please check with us if you are unsure about anything and relax knowing that there's always another option for you if you would rather miss out on any activity. We always have a back up plan.

What kind of accommodation do we stay in?

Having a good night's rest after a day out touring is very important so we personally choose all of our accommodation. Generally, four star accommodation when available - with all the comforts you need for a relaxed night.

How about travel insurance?

We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance as soon as you book your trip. It just puts your mind at ease. Remember to make sure you are covered for and loss of personal possessions, sickness, accidents or travel delays. Feel free to ask us for any tips to make this quick and easy for you.
